A leading manufacturer of a broad range of RF, Microwave and Millimetre Wave components are currently recruiting a Configuration Control Manager for their North East facility to manage the Configuration Control Team and their activities.
The Configuration Control Managers key responsibilities will be:
- Appraisal, development and day-to-day management of the configuration control team in order to effectively delegate and prioritise departmental workload to support product maintenance and NPI project activities.
- To review and implement best practice drawing / document creation and maintenance methodologies, utilising suitable software packages ensuring close integration with Syteline 7 and design engineering inputs.
- To drive the mechanical design content of products from a cost perspective, taking into account DFM requirements from the outset - with specific consideration of design for casting / design for moulding / design for low cost machining (requires in depth knowledge of supply chain tool constraints)
- To pro-actively review and continuously improve configuration control processes, with a focus on real-time control in a high volume environment.
- Obtain an in depth understanding of key mechanical suppliers processes and capability.
- Review design changes and ensure that processes are in place for review by other departments to ensure points of embodiment are clearly defined and implemented.
- Ensure that the liabilities, costs and delivery plans associated with design changes are effectively reviewed, captured and considered when changes are proposed, prior to implementation, so that correct decisions can be made in relation to implementation in conjunction with the Planning Department.
The ideal candidate will have experience within an electronic product development and manufacturing environment. They will have a detailed understanding of MRP systems and processes with an excellent understanding of version controlled technical documentation packages / BoMs and PDM.
