One of the Worlds Leading Suppliers of Engine Components are currently looking for a Test Systems Engineer to join their successful team in Northamptonshire.
The Role
-To review and investigate testbed concerns.
-Responsibility will also extend to investigating and establishing the root cause of problems arising on any of the testbeds/rigs, and drawing up plans for testbed upgrades required to address these in a comprehensive and cost effective manner.
-To specify, in conjunction with the Test Group, a minimum standard of measurement ability acceptable for the CT test beds.
-To work with the Test Facility Senior Principal Engineer to improve the technical capability of the Test Facility and present this to other relevant departments via the Test Group.
-To work with the testbed Design team in specifying and commissioning new pieces of equipment.
-To investigate and implement best practice for the current equipment installed in the testbeds.
-To investigate, support and resolve operating software issues and resolve using in house tools or external suppliers.
-To assist with the development of electronic systems.
-To assist in investigating testbed problems that arises during the course of testing.
-To advise the test-bed planners and projects on the suitability of the facilities available for specific testing.
-To highlight areas where equipment is inadequate for the current project requirements.
-To support the development and implementation of an effective continuous improvement strategy.
-To monitor the effectiveness of current equipment and assist in developing a suitable preventative maintenance program
-To investigate and assess new equipment/measuring techniques as these become available.
-To produce appropriate working procedures on new equipment/installation.
-To work with the H&S advisor to maintain safe working practices.
-Responsible for assessing current testbed performance and data quality, and comparing this to Project and Departmental requirements, and be responsible for defining the required technical specifications of testbed systems.
-Educate and encourage best use of the Departmental equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
-HND Required
-Degree is desirable
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
-Self motivated, ability to communicate effectively and work with others in a team.
-Team player with the ability to communicate at all levels.
-At least 3 years experience of Engine Test bed systems.
-Experience of equipment commissioning processes.
-An understanding of fluid dynamics.
-A sound knowledge of engine emissions control technology.
-A working knowledge of engine test control systems and software would be an advantage.
-Good technical competence in conducting experiments.
-Understanding of PID tuning, and basic Control Engineering principals would be advantageous.
-Understanding of instrumentation equipment to support investigation of installations.
