A Leading Machine Manufacturer are currently looking for 5 Mechanical Engineer's to provide specialist mechanical engineering expertise that is required for designing and building packaging machinery that meets customer requirements.

The Role

The following duties and responsibilities would be required to be performed by the successful Mechanical Engineer:

-To provide mechanical engineering expertise to projects from the concept stage to commissioning.
-Responsible for providing innovative engineering solutions that will meet customer requirements during the concept to commissioning stage of building machines.
-Responsible for writing mechanical design specifications.
-Write up design test specifications.
-Supervise the mechanical function on machine builds whether in-house or carried out by contractors.
-Responsible for the production of mechanical documentation, i.e. parts list, manufacturing drawings, etc.
-Responsible for the mechanical bill of materials and choice of components.
.Will give customers support that can include visits to customer sites and help with installation and commissioning and troubleshooting when required.
-With colleagues supervise the testing of machines before they are sent to customers.
-Plays a part within Project teams when checking out the process.
-Has a due diligence role to ensure that machines will function efficiently.
-Needs to develop an understanding of the standards of practice/codes, etc that exist in different countries.
-Must be willing to travel to clients (sometimes at short notice) throughout the UK and abroad to assist customers.
-At times will need to supervise engineering technicians and designers who are involved in Project teams.
-Responsible for enhancing and developing good customer relationships and for identifying business opportunities in the course of their work.
-Must be responsible for following health and safety policies and procedures and ensuring that contractors and staff do the same.

The Person

We are looking to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:

-A degree in Mechanical Engineering with chartered status (or working towards this, if required)
-A Mechatronics Degree would be a distinct advantage
-Preferably a minimum of 2-3 years' working for a quality machine manufacturer within the packaging sector, or a machine manufacturer making PLC controlled special purpose machines for the food, drinks, pharma and tobacco industries would be very appropriate.
-Proven experience of providing innovative engineering solutions.
-Able to write up design and test specifications.
-Experience of building machines an advantage.
-Experience of machine installations, commissioning and troubleshooting is useful.
-Used to providing bills of materials and the documentation required for production.
-Some experience of managing others.
-Used to dealing with customers on a face-to-face basis.
-Good IT skills.
-Good knowledge of health and safety matters is expected.
